Standing with Houston, together

Responding to Houston’s winter storm impacts

Last week, Houston, our U.S. headquarters and home to more than 1,000 of our people, was severely impacted by the historic storm that hit much of the U.S.

The storm brought unprecedented record freezing temperatures that shut down infrastructure providing energy to Texas. Millions found themselves without power or heating for up to several days and experienced food and supply shortages. Many were left without water, and when they did regain access, they had to adhere to a water boil notice across the city.

The aftermath is extensive as Houston area residents face long-term damage to their homes from burst pipes, utility bill claims and restocking supplies. And some lives changed forever with tragic deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning, fires and hypothermia.

Recognizing our U.S. workforce

The importance of reliable energy supply during events such as this is paramount to ensure the safety of those impacted.

We want to recognize the tremendous work and dedication that our entire TC Energy workforce, especially our USNG and US Liquid BU’s Field Employees and Commercial Operations personnel, and many others across the U.S., have shown during this unprecedented time. Our people are working around the clock, many outdoors in extremely cold temperatures or with limited power sources, to ensure that we continue to deliver on our commitments to our customers

I have always been impressed by how our workforce steps in and helps one another in times of need. Thank you for everything that you all do with passion, integrity and a tremendous work ethic. It matters most to the people in communities where we deliver the energy that keeps people warm, safe and fed.”

How we’re helping Houston, and you can too!

Wherever life happens – we’re there.

The events of last week left Houston in dire need of support. We want to recognize and thank the countless emergency responders, relief agencies and volunteers who have been working tirelessly to aid affected residents.

Through our community giving program, Build Strong, TC Energy donated $50,000 to the Houston Food Bank and The American Red Cross – Greater Houston Area Chapter. These organizations are providing vital resources like hot meals, bottles of water, blankets and cots as well as operating warming centers across Texas for those left with no heat or power.

“It’s great to work for an organization that really cares about its people and the community. Houston is home to me and to many other TC Energy employees, and we are proud of this company’s commitment to giving back to the communities in which we live and work, especially during times when the need is so high,” said Joe Avery, Vice-President of U.S. Liquids Field Operations.

TC Energy is also matching funds at 100 per cent for our workforce through our workforce giving and volunteering program, Empower, to help organizations running emergency shelters, the humane society and other relief organizations that are responding to the ongoing impacts of the storm.
