The Nova Gas Transmission Ltd. System (NGTL) is TC Energy’s natural gas gathering and transportation system for the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (WCSB), connecting most of the natural gas production in western Canada to domestic and export markets.
Spanning 24,631 kilometers (15,305 miles) in length, NGTL is well positioned to connect growing supply in northeast B.C. and Alberta. The system delivers energy to millions of North Americans every day as an essential part of TC Energy’s pipeline network; one in every 10 molecules of natural gas across North America comes through the NGTL natural gas infrastructure.
The NGTL system is currently implementing a $6.5 billion infrastructure program to add 1.3 Bcf/d of capacity in 2022, and an additional 2.2 Bcf/d between 2023 and 2026. The additional capacity will help meet growing need for natural gas in North American and global markets, including the potential to supply LNG export facilities in Canada.

Documents and maps
Gathering and shipping natural gas from the WCSB, the NGTL System safety supplies natural gas to millions of Canadians and Americans every day.
The NGTL System transports natural gas from Alberta and northeastern BC and connects with TC Energy’s Canadian Mainline, Foothills System, and other third-party pipelines.
The NGTL System is governed according to regulations outlined by the Canada Energy Regulator (CER).
From a commercial perspective, the NGTL System operates under terms and conditions of the NGTL System Rate Design and Services Settlement approved in March 2020 through the RH-001-2019 Decision, as well as the provisions of the 2020-2024 Revenue Requirement Settlement approved in August 2020 through Order TG-009-2020. Together, these Settlements provide the basis for determining applicable rates and service provisions on the NGTL System.
We are pleased that the CER approved the components of these settlements as filed. We worked diligently with our stakeholders through a collaborative process to reach this consensus that will provide greater certainty and stability to our operating costs, rates and services.
TC Energy is committed to notifying affected landowners, towns, communities and local, state and federal governments and agencies about our operations. If you have any questions about the NGTL System or projects, please reach out to us via the contact information below.
