NGTL Decommissioning Program (2021)

NGTL is permanently ceasing operations at two lateral pipelines, three associated meter stations and three stand-alone laterals on the NGTL System within Alberta because these facilities are no longer necessary to provide service to customers. The CER defines this process as decommissioning and has approved NGTL’s application.

Program timeline

Q2 2021

Began evaluation of site-specific risks at the proposed sites

Q4 2021

Began Indigenous and stakeholder engagement with impacted landowners and Indigenous communities

Q3 2022

Filed a Section 45.1 Decommissioning application with the CER

Q4 2023

Following regulatory approval, program activities began at select sites

Q4 2024

Anticipate program completion

Program Schedule

Program activities began in Q4 2023 at select sites and continue through Q4 2024. Please note schedules are subject to change and communicated to stakeholders as required.
