It started with a solid foundation and became something much more than we even knew was possible. Like many companies, TC Energy had to shift to a remote work environment very quickly – over the course of a weekend to be exact – and we made that transition seamlessly. How did we accomplish a seamless transition? That question was something the Canadian Business Resilience Network (CBRN) was also wondering. Our Vice-President, Information Services and Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chris Foster joined the CBRN to deliver a webinar – Building digital capacity and business resiliency during COVID-19. Chris spoke to how we worked through the challenges of the pandemic and the strides we are making in moving forward with digital innovation.
Ensuring the integrity of our pipeline assets is one of our main objectives when we talk about our safety as a core value. It becomes a challenge when we must make it real in our 92,600 km (57,500 miles) network of natural gas pipelines. These plastic slabs are just as efficient as concrete to avoid third-party mechanical, but with additional benefits. Its high visibility colour allows our patrolling team to easily spot any exposed section in the pipeline and quickly reveals the existence of a high-pressure pipeline to any third party performing unauthorized activities over the pipeline.

The orphanage in Haiti may be thousands of miles away from TC Energy’s Beiseker compressor station in Alberta, but there is now a very direct link between these two places. Thanks to a successful partnership between Darcy Bye, an Environmental Specialist at TC Energy, and Dr. Roger Saint-Fort, an Environmental Chemist at Mount Royal University, sustainable groundwater remediation technology that Roger developed for the compressor station has been adapted to provide potable water for approximately 500 children at a Haitian orphanage.
