How we interact with the environment is as important to us as it is to the communities in which we live and work. Our Environment Principles of environmental stewardship, protection and performance, guide our decisions every day when building and operating energy infrastructure.

In 2010, OSU-Cascades launched an Energy Systems Engineering four-year degree program, which TC Energy has supported for the last five years. The investment from TC Energy has allowed for experiential learning for senior-year students as they work on their final design projects, collaborating with local energy companies to solve a real-world problem.

TC Energy awarded Steel River SICIM Pipeline Ltd. (SRSP), a subsidiary of Steel River Group, the prime contract on the Brewster section of the 2021 NGTL System Expansion Project, making them the first Indigenous-owned prime contractor to manage new large-diameter pipeline project with TC Energy. After the global pandemic was declared in mid-March due to COVID-19, it was a difficult moment when Indigenous Relations team members realized they couldn’t spring into action, load up a truck with supplies and deliver it to the communities they work closely with. The very next day, after we transitioned to work from home, our team members were all talking about how this was going to affect the Indigenous groups we work with. Everyone wanted to immediately reach out to see how they were doing and ask how we could help. Within the first two weeks of the pandemic being declared, the Indigenous Relations team had proactively reached out to all Indigenous groups who live near or along our operations and projects in Canada and the U.S. – more than 200 groups in total.
