TransCanada today announced its Sundre Crossover Project has been placed into service in central Alberta, increasing the company’s capacity to transport natural gas on TransCanada’s NOVA Gas Transmission Ltd. (NGTL) System to downstream pipelines and key markets in the Pacific Northwest and California.
The Sundre Crossover Project involved the construction of approximately 21 kilometres (km) of 42-inch diameter pipeline in Mountain View County, east of the town of Sundre, Alberta.
With this project, 2.9 miles (4.7 km) will be built along with two compressor stations and replacement of 26 miles (41.8) of existing pipeline. The changes will increase capacity by 1.3 billion cubic feet per day.
A proposed natural gas project would double the size of a pipeline that runs through Hampton Roads to accommodate the region’s growing demand.
