TransCanada Contributes $75,000 to Red Cross

OMAHA, NEBRASKA--(Marketwire - June 13, 2011) - TransCanada Corporation, in response to the massive flooding and devastation in the U.S. Midwest region, has pledged financial assistance for flood relief and has donated $75,000. The donation will be divided between the Heartland, Oahe and Bismarck Chapters of the American Red Cross.

"In areas where we live and work, TransCanada is committed to helping communities rebuild," said Vern Meier, TransCanada's vice-president, U.S. Pipeline Operations. "Recovering from a flood like this will be an ongoing process, and the donation is our way of offering direct support to those most in need."

The relief efforts are currently focused on helping those in the stricken areas, many of whom have either evacuated their homes or are filling sandbags in attempts to save their homes, businesses, farms and livestock.

TransCanada has a number of assets, including the Keystone, ANR, and Northern Border pipelines throughout this area. TransCanada, which was honored in May 2011 by the National Safety Council as being one of the Safest Companies in Omaha, has more than 500 employees and contractors in the Midwest area.
