The Eagle’s Flight cauldron, specially crafted for the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games Calgary 2024, represents our enduring commitment to inclusion and community.

TC Energy was honoured to serve as premier sponsor, supporting inclusivity through initiatives like a volunteer program that welcomed hundreds of community members. Our President and CEO, François Poirier, further demonstrated his commitment by serving as co-chair, working alongside organizers and athletes to foster a spirit of unity and celebration.

The creation of Eagle's Flight

To further ignite the spirit of the Games, TC Energy invited employees to participate in a collaborative design initiative for the official cauldron. The winning concept, Eagle’s Flight, was conceived by a talented team of TC employees.

Crafted from 85 per cent recycled material including repurposed TC Energy pipeline, the cauldron features a design rich with symbolism. Its mountain and soaring eagle imagery represents love—one of the Seven Grandfather Teachings, which are fundamental principles for living inclusively and respectfully.

The cauldron’s top tier intricately incorporates all Seven Grandfather Teachings: Love, Respect, Courage, Honesty, Wisdom, Humility and Truth. At its apex, the eagle, believed to have the closest connection to the Creator, stands as a reminder that unity and these guiding principles empower individuals to achieve their dreams. The cauldron was fabricated by Boom Construction, a Calgary-local company that actively partners with Tsuut’ina Nation to create meaningful opportunities for community members.

Following its illumination with the Flame of Hope at the opening and closing ceremonies, the cauldron will now find its permanent home at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex on Tsuut’ina Nation.

Positioned proudly at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex, the Eagle’s Flight cauldron now serves as a permanent symbol of our collective dedication to fostering a future where prosperity and opportunity are accessible to all.
