Two Technical Centre teams have won Canadian Energy Pipeline Association Awards in the categories of Quality and Innovation. These industry innovations not only make our business more efficient, but safer and more reliable. The P-Square Methodology developed by Technology, Development and Innovation has won the award for Quality while the 4D Inspection Tool which was developed by Project Delivery Excellence in partnership with an external vendor has won for Innovation.

The Gas Transmission Northwest XPress Project (GTNXP) is designed to upgrade our system to meet increased demands from our customers in the region, providing the reliable energy to communities throughout the Western U.S. in a safe, responsible, and reliable manner. Gas Transmission Northwest, an interstate natural gas pipeline owned and operated by TC Energy, filed an application before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in October 2021. After extensive testing in the lab, TransCanada is teaming up with Enbridge and the Government of Alberta for a pilot project that will see both companies install a new fiber optic-based monitoring system on short sections of their oil transmission networks to see how the product, developed by a small hi-tech company in Alberta, performs in the field.
