The Keystone XL project team has been conducting snake monitoring research in southern Alberta at multiple sites near the pathway of the pipeline. In Alberta, prairie rattlesnakes and other snake species are designated as species of special concern.

For more than 20 years, Regional Land Representative Don Gresch has travelled up and down the Trans-Canada Highway visiting landowners and other key stakeholders along an 1,100-kilometre stretch of pipeline in northern Ontario. TC Energy Corporation announced signing of option agreements to sell a 10 per cent equity interest in the Coastal GasLink Pipeline Limited Partnership to Indigenous communities across the project corridor. The opportunity to become business partners through equity ownership was made available to all 20 Nations holding existing agreements with Coastal GasLink.
