Tiara Goodswimmer graduated from Women Building Futures’ (WBF) Journeywoman Start program at arguably one of the worst times possible this year – in March, just after the COVID-19 pandemic was declared – but bad timing hasn’t stopped her. Although her graduation and job interviews were cancelled due to social distancing, she still quickly found work on a construction site. Tiara is now looking forward to starting a new job at the end of June as an electrical labourer in Fort Saskatchewan, AB, with plans to go back to school to become a journeywoman electrician.

On Nov. 11, we will pause to recognize Veterans Day in the U.S. and Remembrance Day in Canada in honour and memory of those who’ve served and sacrificed for our freedom. We’re fortunate to work alongside more than 200 veterans and soldiers – and proud to be part of a team that values the diverse skills, experience and perspective that veterans and military personnel bring to our workplace, and that supports their continued service in the military.

Meet Aaron Fry, a firefighter, family man, and a TransCanada employee. At TransCanada, Aaron is tasked with overseeing a team responsible for the same safe and reliable operations of pipelines in Logan County and Mingo County, West Virginia in addition to Pike County, Kentucky.

TransCanada donated the equivalent of two million dollars (USD) in equipment to help INEA’s teachers reach distant communities.

Sometimes small steps can springboard into leaps. Removing an old, forgotten and collapsed bridge in a small foothills stream and restoring habitat features could be just the little nudge needed to encourage the recovery of the threatened Westslope cutthroat trout population in Allison Creek in the Crowsnest Pass area of southern Alberta.
