TC Energy is investing $146 million to build its first Canadian solar power project. It has the capacity to generate 81 megawatts, enough energy to power 20,000 homes annually. The initial construction includes installing solar panels on TC Energy property in the local industrial park.

TC Energy purchased 74.25 megawatts of solar energy at Claresholm Solar in Southern Alberta.

TC Energy will purchase 20 megawatts of solar energy at East Strathmore Solar; this agreement means TC Energy receives all rights to the current and future environmental attributes of the project. The solar project is one of the first solar-power-generation facilities in the area east of Calgary, Alberta.
