With the recently announced $100 million in funding from provincial and federal governments to clean up inactive wells in Indigenous communities in Alberta, there’s a lot of work to be done. To support Indigenous participation and accessibility to this funding TC Energy is supporting the Inactive Wellsite Abandonment and Reclamation Training to Employment program. Coastal GasLink implemented a unique program within its workforce lodges known as the Community Workforce Accommodation Advisor (CWAA) Program. The program is being rolled out in Coastal GasLink’s workforce lodges, and is employing members from neighbouring Indigenous communities to lead programming that promotes inclusion and fosters a deeper understanding of the rich cultures and traditions of Indigenous communities.
Today, the inaugural TC Energy Summer Scholars Academy at the University of Houston’s College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics came to a close. The program, which supported 50 high school students interested in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) majors with the transition to college, was touted a success amidst the challenges of hosting it virtually due to COVID-19.
