With the recently announced $100 million in funding from provincial and federal governments to clean up inactive wells in Indigenous communities in Alberta, there’s a lot of work to be done. To support Indigenous participation and accessibility to this funding TC Energy is supporting the Inactive Wellsite Abandonment and Reclamation Training to Employment program. This initiative is a partnership with the Indian Resource Council, Alberta Common Ground Alliance (ABCGA – now administered by Alberta One-Call Corporation), Kainaiwa Resources Inc, Global and Kettle River to help Indigenous members from Alberta obtain industry training for work placement opportunities

For more than 30 years, TC Energy has been engaging with Indigenous groups. We recognize Indigenous groups as rightsholders who have a distinct relationship to the land. We understand that our business activities have the potential to affect these groups in tangible ways. Through collaboration and open communication with Indigenous groups, we strive to earn their respect and trust to establish and grow positive long-term relationships.

For those involved in technological deployment, seeing quantifiable results from your hard work is gratifying. But recognizing the impact of this work on a human level is really where the hours, weeks, and months of tireless effort pays off. This particularly applies to a cross-unit collaboration in TC Energy’s U.S. Natural Gas (USNG) organization that led to the avoidance of almost 150 in-person callouts between August 2020 and March 2021 on the Columbia Gulf Transmission system. The achievement came with the implementation of remote-control capabilities for Gas Control in Charleston, W.Va.
