TC Energy connects reliable natural gas supply to Eastern Panhandle communities

New pipeline to Morgan County, West Virginia expands natural gas access to power homes, drive business and fuel local prosperity in the Heart of America
TC Energy and its partner Mountaineer Gas Company celebrated a major milestone today with the successful in-service of the Eastern Panhandle Expansion Project pipeline to Morgan County, West Virginia. The celebration event brought together employees and political, business and community leaders to mark the achievement—the culmination of eight years of planning, development and construction to safely deliver new natural gas service to West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle.
Projects such as the Eastern Panhandle Expansion are crucial because energy is not just a sector of the economy, energy is the economy. Industries such as manufacturing depend on a reliable energy supply to grow and invest.
"We're not just marking the completion of a natural gas pipeline—we’re celebrating the strengthening of America, one connection at a time," said TC Energy’s U.S. Natural Gas Pipelines President David Brast, speaking at the milestone event in Berkeley Springs, WV.

“We have been investing in this region for decades and the Eastern Panhandle Expansion Project is part of a system that is serving as the very foundation that is fueling new factories, growing the economy and supporting communities,” added Brast.
“We’re witnessing a remarkable economic story taking shape across the country—a story being written in the Heart of America. Right here in West Virginia, we’re seeing an all-American renaissance thanks to abundant U.S. energy, and the hard-working employees and communities who make projects like this possible.”
The Eastern Panhandle Expansion Project was developed in partnership with Mountaineer Gas Company and received support from federal and state officials throughout the development process.
The new supply of natural gas will create an energy foundation for attracting new investments and opportunities to the region, and local families will have access to more affordable energy to heat their homes. The project also generated multiple community benefits including local employment opportunities and tax revenue for schools and public services.

“West Virginia is going to continue to build up its infrastructure to drive economic growth and lift up the standard of living for our citizens. My administration is committed to leveraging our state’s natural resources and finding partners to invest in our state. I want to thank TC Energy, Mountaineer Gas, and everyone involved with this project for their commitment to helping us grow West Virginia.”
— West Virginia Governor Patrick James Morrisey
“The Eastern Panhandle Expansion project beginning service is great news for Morgan County and will provide natural gas to produce reliable energy for West Virginia homes and local businesses. Projects like this improve the lives of our residents and spur economic growth, but they have been subject to regulatory hurdles for too long that deny communities the benefits that energy infrastructure development can create. We need more energy in America, not less, and I will continue to work on efforts as Chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee to cut the red tape that stalls projects in pursuit of American energy dominance. I’m thankful for TC Energy’s efforts to bring this project to completion and look forward to the impact this reliable energy will bring to our communities in the Eastern Panhandle.”
— U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.)
“West Virginia has always been the energy state, and projects like the Eastern Panhandle Expansion show just how vital we are to America’s energy future. This project will create jobs, strengthen our economy, and deliver real benefits to our people. I’m proud to see this project completed, because it’s a big win for our state. West Virginia is at the forefront of American energy and will continue to play a key role in powering not only America, but the world.”
—U.S. Senator Jim Justice (R-W.Va.)
