Molly Beckel is an engineer by training with a degree in Management Engineering from the University of Waterloo.

She has been with TC Energy for seven years, starting off as a field EIT on multiple projects with the Mexico group, followed by a role in Facilities Integrity and Reliability Engineering, before settling into her current role as a Marketing Representative for Eastern Markets in the Toronto office. She has travelled across Canada with TC Energy and has the memorable experience of having worked on compressor stations in every province.

Although her day job at TC Energy keeps her very busy, Molly also serves as President & CEO of the Young Pipeliners Association of Canada (Young Pipeliners) – a role she refers to as her ‘real job’ in building the next generation of pipeline industry leaders. Together, the Young Pipeliners hope to build resilient and strong professional networks, enable access to personal and professional development opportunities, transfer technical and business knowledge to enable the stewardship of the industry, and to impact the pipeline industry so that it can attract and retain high potential young professionals.

Meet Molly

I’m happiest when…

I’m outside. I love cross country skiing and hiking, although there’s been much less hiking since we moved to Toronto. We have had the opportunity to do some climbing here though. When I’m inside, I’m happiest reading a book.

Over the years, I’ve learned…

To not take myself so seriously.

Many people may not realize…

That I’m a secret introvert.

I get inspired by…

My group of “keeners” at Young Pipeliners and the work they do to promote a new energy future.

Best part of my job is…

Seeing around corners. I’m very inspired by my team – they see strategic opportunities that others can’t. I don’t always see around those corners, but they do.

TC Energy because…

We’re building the energy future, right now. TC Energy is the backbone of how we emerge into the future and build the sustainability everyone wants.

A fun fact about me is…

I lived in Japan for a year when I was three years old. I moved around a lot as kid and understand how challenging it can be, but also how rewarding it is.

Everyone has a story. What's yours?

Earlier this year in January, I was protested at the University of Toronto during a Young Pipeliners event. A group came in to interrupt and protest the presentation, but the main thing I took away was that they were asking some very important questions about climate change, Indigenous Reconciliation, diversity, equity and inclusion and innovation. From that experience I realized that Young Pipeliners couldn’t shy away from those conversations and that we had to engage in them courageously.
